The BMW 2 Series is a compact car produced from 2014. The 2-Series has several different body styles. It came first available as a 2 door coupe (code name F22) that replaced the 1 Series coupé, or as a 2 door convertible (code name F23) that replaced the 1 Series convertible. 

There is also a new compact MPV body style, which BMW refers to as an Active Tourer (code name F45) and Active Grand Tourer (code name F46). The Active Tourer series broke with the rear wheel drive tradition as these models both are front wheel drive equipped. It is built on a totally different front wheel drive platform that is shared with the 3rd generation Mini.
